Wallace Davis has served as a pastor, teacher, counselor, CEO and—as we now know—a keynote speaker. Those attending the NAQ conference in New Orleans last month were lucky enough to hear him speak, and they were the better for it.
For those of you that weren’t able to attend, we’d like to share a little something from Mr. Davis. This short vignette comes from Uplifting Moments, his 365-daydevotional. Enjoy.
What Matters Most
Here’s a quiz: 1) Name the world’s wealthiest person. 2) Name the last Heisman trophy winner. 3) Name the last Miss America. 4) Name the last person to win the Nobel Prize. 5) Name the last Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
So, how did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headlines of yesterday. Applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.
Here’s the real quiz: 1) Name a teacher who aided your journey through school. 2) Name two friends who helped you through a tough time. 3) Name two people who have made you feel appreciated. 4) Name three people who taught you something worthwhile.
Easier? Sure! The lesson: The people you remember are the ones that care for you. The way you will be remembered is the way you cared for others.
